Greetings from OneWorld South Asia (OWSA)!

Given the current emphasis attached to knowledge intensive sustainable development efforts globally, and in South Asia in particular, it is felt that knowledge needs to be integrated in the life of communities that share values, beliefs, languages, and ways of doing things for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

With this realisation, OWSA has adopted the theme of “Towards Building Communities of Practice (CoPs) for achieving the MDGs” for its 4th Annual Regional Meeting (ARM) for the year 2005. The meeting seeks to involve multiple partners to facilitate interaction and help build new CoPs and also give a major fillip to the numerous CoPs already in place in a more organised fashion through the effective use of ICTs.

Several development experts, including academicians, practitioners and policy makers from the region are expected to deliberate during the two-days meeting. Nearly 400 delegates from South Asia are expected to deliberate during the meeting on various MDGs and identify the niche for ICTs towards building the CoPs for achieving the MDGs. The meeting would be held on March 3-4, 2005 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

Contributions are invited in the form of abstracts (maximum 500 words) and full articles (maximum 4000 words) on specific themes (as listed in the agenda). Last date for submission of abstracts is January 31, 2005 and for full articles is February 15, 2005.
