Every once in a while an event occurs that lifts one out of mediocrity, that captures for a split second in its history the heights of human endeavour. A case in point from Pakistan: When Dr. William E. Wilson, Associate Dean, Saint Michael's College, USA visited the website of Aasthan Latif Welfare Society, a Pakistan-based NGO, through the Oneworld’s learning channel' site/link (a thematic portal on education), little did they know that his support was going to revive a defunct community girls' school run by the NGO in a remote Sindh village. Impressed with the efforts of the organisation for the cause of girl-child education, Dr Wilson volunteered to sponsor one of these community girls' schools, and has been doing so for the past five years. The school, now named, ‘Wilson Community Girls Primary school’ boasts of nearly 50 pass outs. As they say, 'Educate the girl-child, educate the family,’ Aasthan Latif Welfare Society, our partner organisation seems to be driving towards this mission. …And it expresses its gratitude to One World for having made it possible.
