Demanding immediate withdrawal of the ban on news and informative programmes broadcast, Radio Journalists have announced protest programmes. The government banned news broadcast on FM radios after the February 1 political development.

According to reports, the meeting of the radio journalists on Wednesday announced a struggle committee for the protest.

The associations' which comprise radio journalists and promoters - Kathmandu Valley FM Broadcaster's Forum, Community Radio Broadcaster's Association and Broadcasting Association - will lead the protests.

Thousands of radio journalists have lost their jobs after news and informative programmes were prohibited on FM radio stations, reports said.
