It is well established that ICTs are a truly democratic tool, capable of providing a fillip to the development-oriented and transformatory agenda of achieving the MDGs. Much depends on how organisations go about harnessing these tools for meeting the common objective of equitable, sustainable development for all. It is also recognised that access to information is a key factor in enabling and empowering communities of women, men and the marginalised to prioritise and achieve their own immediate and long term needs.
On July 20, 2005, OneWorld South Asia in collaboration with British Council India is organizing a demonstration of online tools and techniques for transcending physical barriers for debating on current issues.
On this occasion, OneWorld South Asia is organizing a short interactive Video Conference session on 'Collaborating on-line towards realisation of Millennium Development Goals (MDG)', which will be followed by the launch of an e-discussion and a few online polls on the topic 'Mainstreaming Gender in aggregating IT-enabled content for Communities'. A hands-on exposure to the tools will enable the participants to understand how they can use this tool to share critical information on the suggested topic.
