Rekha is girl from Chikalwadi where Apnalaya runs a recreation group. There were no opportunities for recreation in the communities in Chikalwadi. As a result of which Rekha would not attend school and her grades in school also started to fall rapidly. Apnalaya’s community centre has fixed days and hours for recreational activities like outdoor and indoor games, craft and other such creative pursuits. A specially trained recreation worker conducts these activities which provides enough space for children to express themselves in various forms like art, theatre, music etc. Rekha just loved the indoor games taught in the recreation group. Rekha’s concentration has improved immensely as a result of her joining the recreational group and she is doing very well in her academics as well
