ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to launch two IT educational channels for the promotion of information technology in the country. "The channels will be on air in the mid of July next year and will start its test transmission from Lahore in next couple of months. The Virtual University has given the task to air the IT-based transmission," an official in the information technology ministry told Business Recorder here on Monday.
The official said the new TV setup would be named as Virtual Television Network comprising two digital television channels, VTV1 and VTV2.
In this regard, he said the information technology ministry has asked the management of the Virtual University to design programmes in an interesting manner to attract and facilitate viewers.
Following instructions of the ministry to maintain quality of the production, the Virtual University has offered the job to highly skilled professionals with vast experience in the field.
Over 20 professors and 50 engineers have been consulted for well-rehearsed and timed recorded video of each lesson, which includes, slides, graphics, and video clips and animation.
The official said both the TV channels would air regular lectures, documentaries on diverse subjects by World Wide Federation (WWF). "Exciting informative programmes are integral part of the transmission," he added.
