New Delhi-based NGO Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is holding a training programme on library, information management and documentation from Octoer 25 - 28 in New Delhi.

Pushing for change Knowledge is key to social change. However, information not organised properly defeats the purpose of any communication or knowledge-based initiative. Managing information therefore requires special skills and calls for investments in strengthening the information infrastructure and skills of the organisation.

Environment Resources Unit (ERU) is the nerve centre of CSE. For the past two decades, it has supported the organisation’s unique ‘knowledge-based activism’ approach. It serves as a central sorting house for the vast array of information received at the centre. Every piece of information, however small, is put into an appropriate pigeonhole, key worded, classified and indexed. Such organised and systematised information is then fed to all research and programme units of the center for advocacy, dissemination and communication purposes.

ERU is considered among the best environmental documentation facilities in South Asia. It has kept pace with the latest documentation and information management tools and trends available, and has propelled CSE’s high-profile awareness creation and research activities.
