ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to investigate the sugar shortage in the country and fix responsibility on those who caused this crisis.
This decision was taken after NAB Deputy Chairman Major General Muhammad Siddique met the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance Dr Salman Shah to discuss the recent sugar price hike. The NAB official expressed concern over the abnormal rise in sugar price. “They also discussed factors behind the price increase and decided that a detailed analysis must be carried out to determine the factors responsible for the crisis and role of different stakeholders in the whole affair,” a NAB press release said.
“Since the sugar price has a cyclic effect over other commodities, NAB feels an urgent need to probe into the sudden price rise,” the press release said. Mr Siddique also met Amanullah Jadoon and discussed with him POL prices as well as the pricing mechanism. staff report
