South Asian Conference on Trade and Development

Centad is organising its second annual ‘South Asian Conference on Trade and Development’ at the Park Hotel, New Delhi, on December 19-20, 2006.

This year’s theme is ‘Multilateralism at Cross Roads: Reaffirming Development Priorities’.

The conference will attempt to address a gamut of trade-related issues that are central to furthering the development agenda of South Asian countries. Apart from possible approaches to move ahead in multilateral negotiations, regional agreements will also be discussed. A special session will be devoted to India’s trade in services.

The Centad publication Trade in Services and India: Prospects and Strategies will be released on the occasion. The book, edited by Professor Rupa Chanda, with a foreword by Professor Jagdish Bhagwati, has been published by reputed international publisher Wiley (India).

Summary recommendations from Centad’s South Asian Yearbook of Trade and Development 2006, published by Wiley (India), will also be made available.
