Civil Society Stage Goodwill Rally in Nepal

Network of Civil Society for Peace (NCSP), Kaski, staged a goodwill rally in Pokhara, Nepal urging the Terai residents to continue their agitation peacefully.

The rally, which commenced from Srijana Chowk, passed through New Road and Chipledhunga before converging into a corner meet after reaching Bhimsen Chowk.

Civil society members, human rights activists, representatives of political parties, media personnel and lawyers took part in the rally.

Addressing the corner meet, coordinator of NCSP (Kaski) Tek Nath Baral urged the government to consider the demands of Terai residents and the political parties to initiate a dialogue immediately to resolve the ongoing unrest in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, human rights activist Achyut Acharya claimed that government should act immediately to meet the demands raised by Terai residents.

Central vice chairman of Federation of Nepalese Journalists Ganga Dhar Parajuli, lawyer Surendra Thapa Magar, Rabindra Adhikari of CPN-UML and Soviet Bahadur Basnet of Nepali Congress- Democratic also addressed the corner meet.
