Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites applications for its two-day Green Schools Programme Teachers’ Training, which will help participants understand how environment education can be implemented effectively in schools.
What is the Green Schools Programme?
The Green Schools Programme helps schools assess their environmental practices using the Green Schools Manual The manual includes exploratory activities, whereby students collect information about the use and management of resources like water and waste in their schools Collection and interpretation of data by students aids learning of key environmental issues Students assess their schools on the basis of the audit. The result is an environmental ‘report card’ of the school (prepared by its students). And instead of subjects like Maths and History, the school is evaluated on Water, Air etc.
About the training
The two-day programme will talk about how environment education can be made more interesting and practical in schools
It will include film sessions and discussions It will equip teachers in using the Green Schools Manual
The Green Schools Programme Teachers’ Training is being conducted by CSE’s Environment Education Unit
Eligibility criteria Teachers, eco-club heads of schools, development workers and citizens interested in environmental education can apply.
Venue: CSE, New Delhi Duration: July 24-July 25, 2007 Time: 9:30 am to 4: 30 pm every day Boarding and lodging: Can be arranged for outstation participants on request (nominal fee will be charged)
Cost: Rs 1,000 per participant. Includes meals and refreshments during training. Rs 1,600 for two participants. Payable by draft in favour of Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi
