The International Labour Office (ILO) is to issue its new biennial Key Indicators of the Labour Market (KILM) 1/ which provides a comprehensive analysis of the global labour market using world and regional estimates and country-level data.

The fifth edition of the KILM is to be issued under embargo on Thursday, 30 August, for publication on or after 23:00 GMT on 2 September.

The KILM, by publishing 20 key indicators of the labour market, analyses a wide range of global trends including: employment and variables relating to employment (status, sector, hours, etc.) the lack of work and the characteristics of job seekers, education, wages and compensation costs, labour productivity and the working poor.

Through a comprehensive collection, organization and analysis of labour market information, this fifth edition of the KILM provides more insight and new measurements on what the ILO calls "decent work deficits" worldwide, expanding the knowledge base on the relationships between poverty, decent work deficits and labour underutilization.

The report and all associated media and information materials are under embargo and not for publication, broadcast or quotation before 23:00 GMT on Sunday, 2 September.

The KILM will be available to the media on request, from the ILO Subregional Office for South Asia, New Delhi . An executive summary of the KILM is available upon request (PDF file). A press release will be available by 30 August under embargo as stated above.
