Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) 2008
7-9 February 2008, New Delhi, India Sustainable development and climate change The year 2008 will be crucial in the global response to climate change. By the beginning of the year, all dimensions of the climate change challenge would have become clearer as a result of the work of leading scientists from around the globe. The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has already issued the first of its reports and, by November 2007, the complete Fourth Assessment Report will become available. It is against this backdrop that multilateral negotiations will proceed to define the global response to climate change. By the end of 2008, a breakthrough is required in ongoing multilateral negotiations in order to ensure that there is no hiatus between the first and second commitment periods under the Kyoto Protocol. The future of our planet hinges on the success or failure of efforts to promote global cooperation to mitigate and adapt to climate change. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh will inaugurate DSDS 2008 For more information contact: The Summit Secretariat, TERI, Darbari Seth Block, IHC Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi - 110 003, India Tel: +91 11 24682100 / 41504900 Fax +91 11 24682144 / 24682145 E-mail dsds@teri.res.in Read details here Source: TERI |
