Award for young researchers

Kusuma foundation announces the 2009 Young Researchers Award to encourage research in the areas of children and education. The deadline for submitting abstracts is June 15, 2009.

The Kusuma Foundation is an Indian non-profit organisation working towards improving the situation of underprivileged children in India.

The Foundation invests in enhancing opportunities for education and quality of schooling through collaboration with various partners.

Kusuma is awarding the Young Researcher Awards only to research undertaken in the areas of education or children at risk.

Theme

Studies/ papers on these following themes and more are invited.

  • Education
  • Children at risk

Who can apply?

The competition is open to Indian research scholars in the areas of social work, child development, urban and rural development/management, population sciences, education, sociology, and allied subjects from any university/ institute with accreditation from the Indian University Grants Commission.

The term research scholar refers to M.Phil or Ph.D students, or young faculty members who are recent Ph.D graduates with less than 3 years of academic (teaching or research) experience as on the January 1, 2009.

Prizes

  • Kusuma Young Researcher 2009: Rs 200,000/-
  • Runner Up: Rs 100,000/-

Guidelines

  • Abstract of the proposed research paper should not be more than 2000 words
  • Short CV of the researcher
  • The submitted research paper/ study must be original, unpublished work by an individual that has been concluded not earlier than the December 31, 2005
  • Dissertations/ papers done as part of M.Phil or Ph.D thesis are eligible

Selection process

Based on the screening, Kusuma shall shortlist the applicants for the final stage.

These applicants will then be invited to submit a full application. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
