Global conclave on microfinance

Over the years, the global microfinance fraternity has been deliberating the issue of financial inclusion of poor and vulnerable sections of the population at length.

However the sector-side vision of microfinance as a tool for reducing poverty needs a shift in focus from mere 'inclusion' to a more holistic framework that monitors and addresses the 'outcomes and impact' of microfinance products and services.

Focusing on the theme: ‘Financing the Poor - Moving Beyond Inclusion’, Microfinance Connect will conduct its first annual global conclave on April 29, 2009 in New Delhi, India.

The attempt of the conference is to channel stakeholder attention to these key issues and to provide a global platform to showcase endeavours and accomplishments towards understanding and enhancing the outcome and impact of microfinance.

The Global Microfinance Connect Conclave 2009 will have the following highlights:

• Sharing of experiences from the field, including Showcase of 'Photo/audio/video documentaries on impact of microfinance operations
• Presentations of key assessment methodologies in microfinance
• Discussions on past attempts, issues and impediments in enhancing impact
• Presentation on objectives and activities of the Global Microfinance Impact Alliiance
• Presentation of the Global Microfinance Impact Awards 2009
