Habitat Young Visionary Award 2009

India Habitat Centre in collaboration with the National Geographic Channel invites entries for the Habitat Young Visionary Award 2009. Participants are required to write an essay on the topic: ‘India’s Youth energy - Power and Potential -Your Vision’. Last date for submission is December 15, 2008.

The Habitat Young Visionary is someone who feels strongly and can come up with creative solutions. Instituted by India Habitat Centre in 2004, the Award is given to a young voice that articulates and impacts on the mainstream of natural and societal consciousness for the creation of a natural environment where excellence prospers.

The Award presents a platform for motivated agents of change. Participants are required to send across their visions in the form of essays on the topic: ‘India’s Youth energy - Power and Potential -Your Vision’.

Who can participate?

The competition is open only to undergraduate students across India.

Grand prize

Winner will receive a fully paid summer programme at the Cambridge University, London. Runners up will get internship opportunities with National Geographic Channel and other reputed NGOs.

Winning entries will be published in the IHC publication, Voices of the Young.   All the entries will be judged by an eminent jury, comprising of academics, educationists, social activists, media personalities and more.

How to participate?

Send across the essay in 1500-2000 words on the given topic. The essay:

  • Could be in English or Hindi
  • Should be the synopsis of a larger, realistic and practical vision
  • Should be typed in double space on A4 size paper
  • Should have enclosure of your CV in about 250 words and a bonafide certificate from your institution

The deadline for submitting entries is December 15, 2008.
