International literacy award

UNESCO invites nominations for 2009 international literacy award for making contributions in nurturing inclusive societies. The theme chosen is ‘Literacy and Empowerment’. Deadline for receiving applications is June 30, 2009.

The 2009 UNESCO International Literacy Prizes will reward well-established and innovative practices documenting how literacy skills (basic skills in reading, writing and numeracy) contribute to empowerment, enabling people to better direct and control their lives.
