Journalism awards for development
Asian Development Bank Institute invites journalists from Asia-Pacific region to submit articles for this year’s’ annual Developing Asia Journalism Awards. The closing date for entries is July 15, 2009.
Journalists from developing Asia and the Pacific are invited to submit their published articles written in 2008 or 2009 for this year’s annual Journalism Awards (DAJA) competition organised by the Asian Development Bank.
The subject matter of the articles should be in line with the following four categories.
- Poverty impact of the global financial crisis.
- Government responses to the global financial crisis.
- Infrastructure development.
- Climate change adaptation.
An international panel of judges will select the 20 best articles written by journalists who will then be invited to ADBI in Tokyo for a four-day training programme running from October 20-23, 2009.
Prizes
There will be winners declared for each of the four categories.
Two special prizes will also be announced for
- Best development journalist of the year; and
- Best young development journalist of the year (under 30 years of age)
Awards will be given at the conclusion of the training programme. Special prizes may be given to entrants in the main award categories or to separate entries.

The closing date for entries is July 15, 2009, 6.00 pm, Tokyo time.
