Symposium on sea turtle conservation

The International Sea Turtle Society organises the annual symposium on sea turtle biology and conservation from April 27-29, 2010 in Goa, India. The deadline for submitting abstracts, travel grant applications and availing the early registration fee is October 31, 2009.

The 30th Annual symposium is coming to Goa, India in 2010 and it is for the first time that the symposium is coming to the South Asian region. This event is being jointly hosted and organized by sea turtle conservation groups and research organizations as well as institutions that work on marine environment issues across India and South Asia.

Theme:

The world of turtles

In keeping with the theme of the symposium, the programme attempts to draw attention to marine and coastal habitats, fisheries and other livelihoods related issues, environmental impacts, and much, much more, within the context of sea turtle biology and conservation.

Who can attend?

The symposium is open to anyone interested in sea turtle biology and conservation and in related marine conservation, policy, social, ecological and fisheries related aspects.

Students, researchers and academics, policy makers, government officials, non-government and community based organizations and volunteers will find the symposium an ideal opportunity to enhance their understanding of the subject, meet with their counterparts and experts from around the world and share their expertise and experiences with others.

We also welcome members of the corporate and industrial community who are potential stakeholders in the marine conservation debate, to interact with experts in the field, and demonstrate their support towards conservation.
