Workshop on communalism and violence

Delhi-based Jagori is organising a three-day thematic workshop: Communalism and Violence against Women. It focuses on the history of communalism and fundamentalism in India and its impact on the dalits, adivasis, women and other sections. The deadline for application is April 15, 2009.

Jagori - a woman’s training, documentation, communication and resource centre - was established in 1984 with the aim of carrying feminist consciousness to a wider audience using creative media.

Who can apply?

Activists working in nongovernmental organisations, community based organisations, counselling centres, legal support centres, referral centres and helplines on the issue of violence against women and communalism.

Eligibility: Fluency in English is essential.

Duration: May 12-14, 2009

Course fee: Rs 1,500 per person
