Workshop on community forestry
Government of Nepal is organising an international workshop on community forestry. It will provide an ideal opportunity to meet new colleagues and learn from the experiences of others engaged at local, national and global levels. Deadline for submitting abstracts is July 15, 2009.
The Workshop Organising Committee and the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation of the Government of Nepal, is organising the first International Community Forestry Workshop. The workshop will be held in Pokhara, Nepal from September 15-18, 2009.
Strengthening community forestry systems and addressing the underlying social injustice that contributes to forest degradation and the vulnerability of poor people – such as unsustainable economic growth, poverty, gender inequality, weak governance and social exclusion – are all essential strategies in the international response to addressing climate change and natural resource scarcity.
The Community Forestry International Workshop is an ideal opportunity to meet new colleagues and to learn from the experiences of others engaged at local, national and international levels in community forestry.

Selection procedure
- All abstracts will be scrutinised by the Technical Committee and recommendations will be made to the Organising Committee for selection of those for final presentation at the workshop
- Presenters of those abstracts selected will be contacted for full papers according to the timetable below
- Details of papers and presentations will be provided to the selected presenters
- All presented thematic papers will be included in the published workshop proceedings
The deadline for sending abstracts is July 15, 2009.
