MTV Iggy, in collaboration with Video Volunteers, brings fearless stories from Kashmir where local youth narrate their experiences from the hotbed of conflict. These videos capture voices of sufferings to engage the global community for a constructive change in the region.

Video Volunteers, in partnership with MTV Iggy is helping raise awareness and bring change for Kashmir by including a key group in the discussion - the unheard voices of the displaced poor.

As part of its ‘Change Kashmir’ initiative, MTV Iggy is inviting photos, blog posts, links, video clips or any other media format to help the world learn more about the devastating conflict and make an impact in restoring peace.

The videos bring unfiltered access to Kashmiri voices from the refugee camps of Jammu and Kashmir where the local youth speak directly of their shocking experiences and discuss the peaceful, pluralistic roots of Kashmir society, and how it has changed in the aftermath of conflict.

Sunil gives a glimpse of daily life in the Jammu refugee camps in one short clip, Mohan explains how religious tensions lead to the slaughter of his entire family in and Deepika shares the reality of leaving her home behind.

Videos created by Community Video Units in India will be posted on MTV Iggy. It is an attempt to make use of different media tools like videos, blog posts, photographs, etc., produced by some of the world’s most disadvantaged communities and to bring them to a global audience.

"Video Volunteers is a next-generation social media network that is engaged in giving voice to billions of underprivileged and marginalised people. They are bringing about egalitarianism to media that is revolutionary and very timely. I am moved by the passion and authenticity of their work and have partnered with them to bring stories of displaced Kashmiri youth to the rest of the world. The results of that partnership have been very gratifying,” says Nusrat Durrani, SVP/ General Manager MTV World.

In addition to highlighting voices of local youth, the videos also feature acclaimed historian William Dalrymple, noted writer Arundhati Roy, journalist Tarun Tejpal and Bollywood actors Abhishek Bachhan and Sonam Kapoor.
