Networking giant Cisco India launched its interactive technology platform myhumannetwork.com with an aim to integrate various people and organisations working in the field of social development. This platform will allow them to share multimedia content about their initiatives with like-minded people and find solutions on various issues.
Mumbai: Networking major Cisco India today announced the launch of its web 2.0 technology platform - www.myhumannetwork.com in Mumbai.

It is built on Google Earth application, which helps location-based information search, and its development took about six months.
According to Cisco India & SAARC head - Brand Strategy and Advertising, Nupur Sharma, the websites allows individuals and organizations to get registered and provide feeds of their initiatives, share content such as pictures and videos and build a network of like-minded people to support various causes and initiatives.
“It’s an India initiative developed in India. It will have global reach at later stage. The platform is a brand marketing initiative of Cisco, where the company has sponsored the platform development as well as its maintenance,” Sharma added.
The platform aims to bring people and organizations with causes and initiatives; and allows them to connect, collaborate and share ideas, experiences and issues and help them find solutions.
Using the platform, people can browse various categories such as education, healthcare, education, environment, animal welfare, economic development and infrastructure and social welfare. And then can identify causes and choose initiatives under each cause.
According to Cisco India & SAARC president and country manager, Naresh Wadhwa, India is the innovation hub of technology. “So we want to take this initiative and want to be seen as an Indian entity of technology development. This is a single platform which can understand the needs of people and they can truly use it in the real life.”
This networking platform has a blend of existing social networks like Facebook, Orkut, Twitter and Linkedin.
Cisco has fully outsourced resources including technology professionals, servers and other IT requirements for the platform. However, it will closely monitor the uploaded content of individual and organizations on 24x7 basis.
Moreover, Wadhwa has categorically said that there’s no intent of monetization of the platform. Presently about 40 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and individuals across India have registered on the website and the company expects over 250 NGOs and people in next 6 to 9 months.
