WFP reaches out to youth via web
A new ‘teachers and students’ section will soon appear on the website of the World Food Programme. Aiming for more participation from youth in the fight against hunger, it plans to contain attractive online features like gaming, videos, news and maps.
Rome: WFP has created a set of online resources that will help teachers bring hunger issues into the classroom, where tomorrow's voters and policymakers can learn about the challenge that world hunger poses.

Graham Bell, our Youth Outreach Coordinator, has been a key figure in developing the new Teachers and Students section. He says young people and educators are crucial when it comes to effecting change in attitudes to hunger and poverty.
The Teachers and Students section contains videos, games, maps, news, hunger statistics and ready-to-use, cross-curricular lesson plans exploring hunger issues.
In the pipeline is a standards-aligned, online curriculum mapping service that will enable teachers to freely use teaching materials and develop complete curricula centred on hunger.
The Teachers and Students section is a work in progress and we would love to hear your ideas on how we can make it better. You can send your comments directly to Graham Bell or post comments on the individual items in the blog.
