SDGs have a standalone goal on gender equality: Suneeta Dhar, Jagori

Dec 29, 2017

The standalone goal will help to sensitise the government and people towards women’s issues, says Dhar.

New Delhi: Suneeta Dhar, Senior Advisor, Jagori, in this episode of Ek Duniya Ek Awaaz talks about the importance of changing the mindset of people for ensuring gender equality. Jagori is a New Delhi based nonprofit that works for ensuring gender equality.

Suneeta says that the standalone goal in SDGs on gender equality and women empowerment is a very significant step. There were no targets and indicators in MDGs on violence against women. But SDGs have a clear road map on this.

Suneeta says that it is very important to change the mindset of people and of the law dispensing authorities like police and judiciary towards women’s issues.

This episode of Ek Duniya Ek Awaaz provides an overview about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how India is gearing up to achieve goals that aim to create a more equitable and just society.
