Priyanka Chopra launches campaign against anaemia

J P Nadda, India’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare, launched the campaign along with UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Priyanka Chopra.

New Delhi: On 23th December, 2015, a National Media awareness campaign for the Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation was launched in Delhi with J P Nadda, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Priyanka Chopra and Louis-Georges Arsenault, UNICEF Representative for India, in the presence of senior officials from the ministry.

India has the largest number of young people aged 10-19 years in the world – 253 million. However, 56 per cent of girls and 30 per cent of boys in the age group of 15-19 years in India suffer from anaemia. This means that 1 out of 2 young girls and 1 out of 3 young boys are anaemic.
