Parul

parul.jpgA journalist based out of Delhi, Parul has been working since 2004. She reports on politics, society, conflict, and developmental issues. She is keenly interested in exploring issues related to democracy, governance and justice. She finds it especially compelling to explore these themes in tribal areas of the country, where upholding these values is extremely challenging.

She has worked with media houses like the Hindustan Times in the past, before starting to write independently. She has worked extensively in south Odisha's tribal belt, which she has been visiting for the past few years.

Her work has appeared nationally in People's Archive of Rural IndiaThe CaravanFountainInk, TehelkaFinancial WorldMedia Voice etc., and internationally in the Narratively, The Diplomat (video stories) and The Media Project.

She was in Kashmir for six months in 2016, during the entire period of the uprising and violence after the killing of militant leader Burhan Wani. Based on her experiences as a woman living under curfew in Kashmir, she wrote a four part series for BBC Hindi.

She is currently working on her first book, biography of late actor Tom Alter.
