Smita Ramanathan

smita_ramanathan.jpgAn independent broadcaster and development consultant with more than 20 years of experience in the development sector, Smita Ramanathan has worked at the grass roots with NGOs, government organisations and research institutions. Her areas of interest include gender, health and livelihoods. She is well versed in qualitative research and participatory training methodologies. As a trainer she has worked with members of Self Help Groups and other Community Based Organisations, staff of government departments, banks and NGOs. She has conducted field research in the areas of livelihoods, reproductive health, education and compiled reports. As a broadcaster she has produced audio programmes on women’s issues for community radio.  Besides, she has also edited works of fiction and poetry.

She has Masters in English Literature from Delhi University and in Sociology from Annamalai University, and a diploma in Human Rights Law from the National School of India University, Bangalore.
