Chaayos to support nutritional cost of 28 kids for a year

Jul 05, 2018

This initiative would help these children to get adequate nutritional support which is crucial for their development

New Delhi: Chaayos, India’s chai café chain, has partnered with the Smile Foundation, a national level development organization to support the cause of Nutrition for Education.

Chaayos has adopted 28 children from the Foundation and will be sponsoring their nutritional cost for one year. Kids from Smile Foundation thanked the Chaayos team by creating boats with innocent and inspiring messages written on them.

In order to create awareness about the cause, Chaayos will decorate all its cafés with the beautiful paper boats as part of their Monsoon Menu launch festivities. Today, more than half of India’s population is below the age of 25. In another five years, India is touted to become the country with the largest young population in the world.

Nearly 8 million children in India are still deprived of formal education and are either on the streets or working in hazardous conditions and getting involved in illegal activities - far away from the innocence of childhood.

Proper nutrition is crucial for the health of the younger generation. The objectives of this initiative are to raise awareness on malnutrition of children, encourage more people to join this cause, spread the message of education for the upcoming generation and to bring about a change in the society.

Children are the future of this country and it is heart wrenching to see the plight of so many. While education remains an issue, a number of kids also go hungry due to the poor distribution of food and this severely impacts their mental and physical growth”, said Raghav Verma,Co-founder, Chaayos.

“We strongly feel for the cause Smile Foundation is undertaking and hope to bring about a small yet significant change with this association. I spent some time with the beautiful kids at Smile foundation and it has been a soul-stirring experience.” Verma, added.

Speaking about the alliance Sanjeev Dham, COO, Smile Foundation One in every three malnourished children in the world is from India,” he said.

“The consequences are long-term and it prevents children’s overall growth, learning ability, going to school and a chance to come out of the vicious cycle of poverty for yet another generation” said Dham,COO, Smile Foundation.

“Thereby it also prevents the country’s growth. I am thankful to Chaayos for their support and to take this initiative to the next level”, Dham added.

With our efforts in collaboration with Smile Foundation, Chaayos hopes to bring smiles across the faces of those less fortunate.
