IPID addressed the significance of educating pet owners about the specific nutritional requirements of pets.

New Delhi: The India International Pet Trade Fair (IIPTF) concluded on August 25 with resounding response from pet owners and business visitors. IIPTF is South Asia’s only pet trade fair and India’s largest pet event.

The fair hosted the first edition of Indian Pet Industry Dialogue (IPID) on August 23, a forum for serious deliberation on the state of the pet industry in India, its future growth path and global perspective.

The congregation embarked upon the vision to make India the largest manufacturer and exporter of pet products by 2030 and exchanged views on the necessary measures to attain this goal. IPID addressed the significance of educating pet owners about the specific nutritional requirements of pets and employment of credible influencers such as veterinary experts and relevant information channels and interesting activities to achieve this end.

The event also highlighted the need to reduce the cumulative lead time for importing pet products into India and suggested collaborations with veterinary universities to manufacture vegetarian pet food in the country. Distinguished speakers also debated on the indispensable necessity to organise the Indian pet retail sector, make digital commerce customer experience centric and adapt new technologies to advance the trade.

The conference was followed by Indian Pet Industry Awards, which were presented to pet businesses, entrepreneurs and NGOs for achieving excellence in the domestic pet industry. The award had five main categories namely - Best Entrepreneur of the Year, Pet Shop of the Year, Grooming Parlour of the Year, Pet Boarding of the Year and NGO of the Year. The winners received certificates of recognition and hand painted portraits of furry companions.

IIPTF organised its B2B exhibition-cum-trade show on August 24 and 25 where Indian and international brands showcased their vast range of pet-pertinent products and services. The fair had many enthralling activities to enrapture pet lovers such as captivating aquarium displays, a Feline Convention by the Feline Club of India to deliberate about specific requirements of cats as pets; a dog grooming workshop by Fuzzy Wuzzy Pet Styling Studio and Spa; and an interactive seminar on dog breeding and exhibition by International All Breeds Judge. A Nature Aquarium Workshop on aquascaping techniques was also conducted by Adip sajjan Raj from Aqua Design Amano, which was a hit with ornamental fish hobbyists.

IIPTF acts as a platform for importers, exporters, manufacturers, distributors and service providers of the pet vertical to congregate under one roof, interact, discuss, network and forge vital international business relationships. Many established global names such as Tianjin Tangchao Foods (China), Bacterfield (Germany), Group Depre Pet Food (Belgium), and Synergy Lab USA exhibited their product offerings in the IIPTF 2019. The Canadian High Commission got together some of the most popular Canadian brands to participate in the event as ‘Canadian Pavilion.’

The fair also had many indigenous enterprises such as Taiyo – a leading aquarium and pet feed manufacturer from Chennai; Poonchh - an eco-conscious and sustainable brand for pet clothing and accessories; and Petveda – a range of ayurvedic pet grooming products by Terrai Natural Products showcase their niche products and services.

The fair, organised by Creature Companion, a pet care magazine published by LB Associates, was held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from August 24-25, 2019.
