GVK EMRI’s main campus gets emergency care simulation complex

The Simulation Complex has been commissioned with a grant from the Tata Trusts.

Hyderabad: E S L Narasimhan, Governor of Telangana, inaugurated the ultra modern, state-of-the-art GVK EMRI Emergency Care Simulation Complex at the GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute’s (GVK EMRI) main campus in Secunderabad.

The Simulation Complex has been commissioned with a grant from the Tata Trusts and aims to provide simulation based medical education using sophisticated and technically advanced manikins enabling students to evaluate, perform and repeat the same exercises until they get the procedure right.

Emergency management and life support skill gaps have been identified on a very large scale across India amongst doctors, nurses and para medical staff by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the Simulation Complex has been commissioned with the objective of equipping the trainees with the requisite skills.

Emergency life support skills to save lives and reduce complications by timely stabilization and interventions require upgradation to enable assured level of care in public health institutions in India as per the research data available. Road Traffic Accidents cause a loss of 3 % GDP in India.

Thus emergency life support skills are recognized as a major issue in terms of “Patient Safety”, “Patient Outcomes” and “economic burden”.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr G V K Reddy, Founder and Chairman, GVK said, “We are thankful to Tata Trusts for their grant which has enabled us to set up this world class emergency care Simulation Complex, that is most modern and equipped with technically advanced manikins. We will also look to train healthcare providers from developing countries in the near future.”

GVK EMRI is a pioneer in Emergency Management Services (EMS) in India. As a not–for–profit professional organization operating in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, the largest professional Emergency Service Provider in India with a presence in 18 States and Two Union Territories today.

GVK EMRI has been certified as an International Training Centre (ITC) by the American Heart Association (AHA) for courses in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). GVK EMRI is also certified by American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to conduct Basic and Advanced International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification courses.

In addition, Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses recognized by American College of Surgeons are also held at G V K EMRI. Likewise, American Academy of Family Physicians has given license to G V K EMRI for conducting Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLSO/ALSO) courses.

Qualified medical professionals are involved as resource persons in various training programs. With increased focus on research and analytics, GVK EMRI now, also enters into the arena of protecting law and order in society.

GVK EMRI has left no stone unturned to reach out to the needy by extending its reach through various Help Line and Specific Segment oriented Focused Services as an offshoot of the vast expertise gained through the last 12 years of 108 EMS operations across the length and breadth of its operational states in India.
