IFIM students raise funds for girl children

The proceeds of Kanyathon were given to the NGO, Child Rights and You.

Bangalore: The students of IFIM Institution sraised funds worth Rs 4.7 Lakh, under Kanyathon, the annual marathon that took place on March 5, 2017. The run was under the students’ initiative called S.A.F.E. (Students against Female Exploitation), where the theme this year was “Saving the Girl Child by Women Empowerment. “The proceeds of the marathon were handed over to the NGO, Child Rights and You (CRY).

IFIM’s Kanyathon has been supported by S.A.F.E, since the launch of the movement in February 2013, with the main aim of promoting social responsibility and creating awareness against exploitation of women. The 6thedition of Kanyathon focused on promoting gender equality.

A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between CRY and IFIM Institutions, making CRY their official NGO partner for the next three editions.

“CRY is honoured to partner with Kanyathon for the year 2017 and proud to extend our collaboration for next three years to come. The enthusiasm and energy of the youth to generate awareness and funds for girl children in India resonates with CRY’s vision to ensure the rights of girl children in India which is rightfully theirs.” says Suma Ravi, Regional Director, South, CRY.

“We are proud to associate IFIM with CRY this year onwards. We share the same vision and, therefore, joining hands was the right decision. The students were able to raise about Rs 5 lakhs for the noble cause of saving the girl child and we know this has taught them a lot. We are happy to be a part of this journey.” said Sanjay Padode, Secretary, CDE (IFIM Institutions).

Venkataramana, Group President – HR, Landmark Group, Silver Sponsors, Kanyathon 2017 said, “Landmark Group is proud to be associated with Kanyathon 2017, a charity run to Save the Girl Child. We were impressed by this noble initiative taken by the students of IFIM Institutions and thus we lend our support towards the cause and hope to continue being part of this initiative in all the future editions.”

IFIM Institutions also gifted the Bangalore Electronics City Police(traffic and law and order division) printers as a token of appreciation for their support and encouragement towards the cause of Kanyathon. In fact, the police, impressed with the arrangements of Kanyathon 2017, assured their support for all future editions of Kanyathon.
