Mammoalert to help in early detection of breast cancer

The MammoAlert does not require the women to dis-robe and go through a physical examination of the breast.

NEW DELHI: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, acounting for 25.1% of all cancers. Breast cancer incidence in developed countries is higher, while relative mortality is greatest in less developed countries. Breast cancer is the highest prevalence with the highest mortality rates worldwide.

The incidence and deaths due to breast cancer globally are monumental. However, due to technology and cost limitations, less than 4% of the women are screened. It was estimated that 1.6 million new cases of breast cancer were identified with half a million deaths globally as recorded in 2012, by Globocan.

In order to detect breast cancer in its early stage POC Medical Systems’s the ingenious platform technology, the Pandora Cdx is a portable lab-in-a box designed for the rapid screening of various cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Pandora CDx’s first application is the MammoAlert that helps in detecting breast cancer. The MammoAlert does not require the women to dis-robe and go through a physical examination of the breast.

This multiplexed test uses a drop of blood from a finger prick advanced artificial intellegence and machine learning algorithms that screens the report for breast cancer. Through cloud computing technology, the data can be retrieved by a doctor from any remote location.

This cancer detecting tool is simple-to-use, accurate and is low-cost which eliminates any dis-robing and shame. This kind of preventative screening test will significantly reduce healthcare costs and patient-trauma of unnecessary biopsies, lumpectomies, mastectomies, radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

Sanjeev Saxena, CEO, POC Medical Systems Inc said that “he is waiting to launch Pandora Cdx- MammoAlert in India soon, as I am born & brought up in India & am very keen to address the issue of cancer from the country of my birth, especially breast cancer which is killing one woman every 7 minutes here."

"POC has established India office in Mumbai & we are awaiting the completion of the confirmatory studies for the launch. On the financials, we have raised 21 Million US$ in 2017, which were utilized for research & development of the product & are in process of raising Series B investment of 40 Million US$ for the mass scale production & market penetration in India. We are talking to various interesting parties for the same,” Saxena said.
