National consultation on protection of children from sexual abuse

The National Consultation on Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in India, is going to be held on 27 - 28 April 2012 in New Delhi, India.

Prof.Kiran Walia, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Women and Child Development, Govt of Delhi will inaugurate the Consultation. The consultation will be held at YMCA, New Delhi.

The “Report on Global Monitoring on the Status of action against commercial sexual exploitation of Children: India” will also be release on the occasion.

The consultation will be organised by ECPAT International alongwith its affiliates:  EQUATIONS, Indian Committee of Youth Organizations (ICYO), SANLAAP and STOP Trafficking and Oppression of children and women (STOP).

The key note address will be delivered by Smt. B Bhamathi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

This consultation aims to:
1. Exchange experiences and knowledge among different actors on the issue of sexual exploitation of children.
2. Examine the implementation of the legal and policy landscape and identify the lacunae.
3. Examine effectiveness of the existing mechanisms and implementation gaps, and formulate recommendations towards strengthening mechanisms for protection of children from exploitation.
The organisers are expected the participation from civil society, government representatives and expert from field.
