Daniele Ponzi, Lead Environment Specialist at ADB's Environment and Safeguards Division, in an interview said the recently concluded Rio+20 conference was largely a success in terms of inclusive approaches.
Ponzi believes that multilateral processes are complex, difficult, and very slow and though they are important but are only part of the solution. Talking about the RIO+20 ‘outcome document’, he said the main criticism is that it lacks real vision and adequate commitments for new programmes and dedicated financial resources.
Ponzi stressed on the fact that there was widespread consensus on moving towards green economy with an inclusive approach. “Unless we end poverty, we cannot move towards a green economy,” he said.
