International Federation of University Women’s rebrands and reaffirms global commitment under Graduate Women International.

Geneva: In its 96th year of championing education, women’s rights and gender empowerment worldwide, April 27 marks the launch of the International Federation of University Women’s new name of Graduate Women International (GWI).

The new title more accurately reflects the dynamism and inclusiveness of the organisation, which is active in advocacy, projects, fellowships and grants. New national affiliates from all over the world continue to join the ranks of GWI. With its global mission and the commitment of tens of thousands of members, GWI aims to become the household name synonymous internationally with girls’ and women’s education.

President of GWI, Catherine Bell, welcomes the next chapter in the organisation’s venerable history: “This is an exciting time for GWI. We see the name change as an opportunity to showcase our dynamic organisation, where our new title is both contemporary and more reflective of our membership.

‘Graduate women’ better describes the more inclusive nature of our membership, which is open to all women who have attained a degree, diploma or equivalent qualification from an institution of higher education. We hope that under our new name, we will encourage more women worldwide to become part of our global voice.” GWI is dedicated to carrying out the organisation’s overarching vision of 100% of girls and women in the world achieving education beyond primary school.
