UNICEF organizes talks by children and interaction with Parliamentarians for World Children’s Day

New Delhi: Celebrating the upcoming World Children’s Day on 20 November, UNICEF India today organized a series of powerful talks with five children from different parts of the country from Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, New Delhi to Sikkim.

At ‘UNICEF Talks by Children’, children from across the country spoke on various aspects of what schools as supportive and safe spaces means to them. This was followed by a roundtable with MPs on the theme - “Enabling Schools as Safe and Supportive Spaces for Every Child”.

The event was attended by over 10 Members of Parliament, including Convenor of the Parliamentarians’ Group for Children, Vandana Chavan, Nardenra Jadav, K Kamraj and Vikas Mahatme. It provided a platform for children to share their needs, challenges and aspirations with the MPs.

At the roundtable, MP’s also shared their insights on the role parliamentarians can play to enable schools as supportive spaces for every boy and girl in the country. The platform provided a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the progress made for children, to engage with leaders on the commitments made to and for children, and to discuss the opportunities to continue and grow the work for children.
