Kandahar women obtain driving license

Seven women in Kandahar province, Afghanistan obtain driving license for the first time.

In Kandahar province, Afghanistan, for the first time seven women obtained driving licenses.
Kandahar traffic department chief, Mohammadullah said that on attending a six-month training course, and successfully passing the exam, the women received the license.

According to sources, this is the first time, women in Kandahar province received this official document from the province traffic office.

Mohammadullah said that, if women’s demand to learn driving increases, Kandahar traffic office would establish a driving centre with the cooperation of education department in one of the high schools, in order to allow women to train on safe driving skills by trained professionals.
