Mary Kom felicitated on International Women’s day

Mary Kom rewarded three other women achievers from Aditya Birla hospital for being appreciated the most from fellow colleagues.

Pune:  Marking the occasion of International Women’s Day, Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital, Pune, Maharashtra’s first Joint Commission International (JCI), USA and NABH Accredited Hospital, felicitated the Olympics bronze medalist and five time world boxing champion, MC Mary Kom.

She was conferred with this honor for her distinguished service of high order in the field of sports, which is an inspiration for fellow women and Indians. Mary Kom rewarded three other women achievers from Aditya Birla hospital for being appreciated the most from fellow colleagues.

Known as magnificent Mary, the Manipuri boxer hails from Kangathei, a nondescript village in Churachandpur district. Born on March 1, 1983, Mary is a five-time World Boxing champion and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in six world championships. She won gold at the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championship in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2010. She is first Indian woman boxer to win an Olympics medal. She was also conferred with the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian honor in 2013.

“Women are not less than men in any form. I think more and more woman should come forward and make their career in sports. Infact given the current scenario I think women should definitely learn boxing as self defense”, MC Mary Kom said.
