Rural schemes: 3 UP officials suspended for negligence

The officials have been charged for negligence in the implementation of rural development schemes and programmes in their respective districts.

In the West Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Project Directors of rural development department from three districts including Allahabad, Jaunpur and Jhansi have been put under suspension with immediate effect. They have been charged for negligence in the implementation of rural development schemes and programmes in their respective districts.

Quoting official sources our Allahabad correspondent reports that the suspended Project Directors have also been charged for poor supervision to several schemes including implementation of Indira Awas Yojana, Lohia Awas Yojana, MGNREGA and Swarn Jayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana in their respective districts during just concluded financial year.

The official spokesperson has also said that charge sheets have also been issued against 11 more Project Directors and proceedings have been initiated to declare them unfit for the post of Project Director.

The Rural Development Minister of the state has also written to the Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner of the state for taking actions against 14 District Magistrates and Chief Development Officers for not taking sincere interest into the implementation of rural development programmes.

In another development a high level inquiry has been set up by the government against five senior engineers from irrigation department for purchasing items without floating tenders causing lakhs of revenue loss to the government.

Chief Engineer west has been nominated as inquiry officer to complete the probe within two months.
