Environmentalist Dr Ashok Khosla gets ‘Smart green social change Award’

Khosla gets the award for his contribution to the smart and affordable housing projects in India.

New Delhi: Renowned environmentalist and Chairman of the global think tank Development Alternatives (DA), Dr Ashok Khosla has been felicitated with the prestigious ‘Smart Green Social Change Award’ for his contribution to the field of smart housing project. The award was presented at the ‘Smart Green Awards & Summit’ on December, 2, 2015 at hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi.

While receiving the award, Dr. Ashok Khosla stressed on using the local products including fly ash blocks and eco kilns while buildings houses and said that it will have huge impacts on nation’s future. “Buildings and infrastructure consume more material and energy than almost any other sector of the economy.  Any savings in our construction methods through resource productivity, use of local materials and other innovations can have a huge impact on our nation’s future, particularly on the sustainability of our natural resource base.

The Development Alternatives Group and its associated TARA companies are fortunate to have been able to pioneer a wide variety of new technologies such as compressed earth, fly ash blocks and vertical shaft eco-kilns that are now being widely used,” said Dr. Khosla.

The ‘Saint Gobain and Economic Times summit and awards’ -a joint venture  between business daily ‘Economic Times ‘and Saint Gobain, underlying theme is the scheme of a sustainable habitat. It focuses on bringing to lime light, the innovative initiatives in the area of Sustainable Habitat by recognizing the people or organizations behind them.
