Winners of Helen Keller Awards-2015 announced

The awards have emerged as a credible way to map the progress being made towards greater dignity of disabled citizens.

New Delhi: The winners of the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP)-Lemon Tree Hotels Helen Keller Awards-2015 have been announced under three different categories.

In their sixteenth year now, the Awards have not only led to a recognition of the exceptional work being done by corporates, NGOs and individuals, but have also emerged as a credible way to map the progress being made year by year towards greater dignity and empowerment of India’s 70 million disabled citizens.

Category A: Role Model Disabled Person: Disabled persons from within the disability sector and outside who have been active as ambassadors of the cause of employment for disabled people and are a positive role model for others.

1. Diethono Nakhro– Disability Rights Advocate, Nagaland

2. Nitin Goyal - Head of Asset Controlling and Projects (India), Nokia Networks and Solutions, Gurgaon

3. Kanika Aggarwal - Training Executive, v-shesh Learning Services Pvt. Ltd., Maharashtra

Category B: Role Model Supporter of Increased Employment Opportunities for Disabled People: Individuals from within the disability sector or outside who have contributed substantially to the cause of promoting employment opportunities for disabled people over an extended period of time.

1. Anita Narayan – Founder and Managing Trustee, Ekansh Trust, Maharashtra

2. Ganesh Shivaram Hegde – Deputy Director (Livelihood), The Association of People with Disability (APD), Karnataka

3. Aparna Dass – Programme Manager, The America India Foundation Trust, Gurgaon

Category C: Role Model Companies/NGOs/Institutions: Organisations from the disability sector or outside who have shown their commitment towards promoting equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

1. AMBA, Karnataka

2. ANZ Bengaluru Hub, Karanataka

3. Sounds of Silence Foundation, Maharashtra

4. State Bank of India, Maharashtra
