State of the World’s Cities 2008/2009-Harmonious cities, a report by the United Nations Habitat emphasises the importance of harmonious urbanisation in the developing world. United Nations Millennium Campaign’s Annual Report 2008 summarises the key achievements of the largest global campaign against poverty. The report highlights initiatives taken across the globe to make governments more accountable to MDGs and foster stronger partnerships for development.
Crisis fix for women
In its new publication: Global Employment Trends for Women, ILO warns the economic crisis could generate up to 22 million more unemployed women in 2009. Noting that the downturn has hit women harder, the report says that the trend can be arrested if governments adopt gender equity policies.

mHealth for Development, published by Vodafone and United Nations Foundations, surveys the benefits of mobile technology to improve healthcare. Highlighting various projects from across the world, the report says that mHealth is creating new pathways for sharing health-related information in the remotest and resource-poor environments.
