Nov 19, 2013

According to a new report, climate change in India has resulted in warmer temperatures, higher frequency of heavy rainfalls, flooding and droughts.

An overwhelming majority, around 93% of Indian companies reporting to the CDP are implementing emissions reduction initiatives and benefitting to the tune of Rs 800 crore annually, according to the 2013-CDP India 200 Climate Change Report titled ‘Energy efficiency: Driving the climate change response in Indian high performing companies’.

Data analysis shows that the companies are largely deploying energy efficiency mechanisms to achieve their goals: 69% of emissions reduction initiatives are focused on improving energy efficiency, contributing to 40% of the total GHG emissions saved by Indian companies in 2012.
