The book features inspirational stories of 50 women who have emerged as a game changer in the field of corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, social work, sports, films, theatre and arts.
New Delhi: The third edition of the book Women of Pure Wonder is a tribute to extraordinary women and their achievements. Women of Pure Wonder series has recognised over 150 women change-makers from across India.
The book featuring 50 women achievers including Justice Leila Seth, Sooni Taraporevala, Kirthiga Reddy, Shovana Narayan, Archana Kapoor, Ritu Dalmia, and Sanjna Kapoor among others was launched on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Launched by the Vodafone Foundation, Women of Pure Wonder is third in a special series focusing exclusively on women empowerment, chronicles tales of 50 inspirational women from across the country who dared to take the road less travelled.
The book showcases awe-inspiring exploits of these 50 women categorised under three rightly named sections - Vision, Valour and Victory. The success stories published in Women of Pure Wonder will act as a beacon of hope for women of all hues across India.
The book features from Arunima Sinha’s victory as the first woman amputee to climb Mount Everest; to Justice Leila Seth – the first woman judge of the Delhi High Court and first woman to become Chief Justice of a state High Court.
The book also features motivational speaker Kanchan Gaba – untiring blind mountaineer, crusader for the rights of the disabled and Kolkata High Court judge, and Meera Shenoy – Founder-Chairperson, Youth4Jobs, pioneer in skilling, with a focus on providing employment to disabled youth, women and scheduled castes.
The extraordinary deeds of these women, who courageously braved various social, economic, and familial odds to find success in their chosen field of work, are an inspiration, to women not just across the country but globally. These women have overcome several odds to emerge as game changers in their chosen fields of various hues including business, culture, arts, civil rights, media & entertainment, sports, and public service.
The first edition of the book Women of Pure Wonder, narrating stories of India’s unknown women champions was launched in the year 2013. The second edition – Women of Pure Strength, illustrated how astutely women can steer the mast amidst waves of diverse social and cultural milieu.
