Director, OneWorld South Asia
Naimur Rahman Mr Naimur Rahman has been with OWSA for the last three years and was a key member of the OWSA Management Team since April 2006. As Senior Programme Manager - Technology Services in OneWorld South Asia, Naimur has been responsible for developing New Media & Technology Tools and Services and has helped support the ICT needs of OneWorld partners. Naimur brings in 16 years of managerial, advisory and consulting experience in the domains of technology, knowledge management and international development. He possesses a first class honours degree in Engineering and has subsequently completed post graduate management education in International Business. Prior to joining OneWorld, Naimur has been associated with social sector interventions for more than a decade and had served in various capacities with the government, bi-lateral funding agencies, corporate sector, and civil society organizations. Head - ICT Advocacy, Grassroots Communications & Capacity Building Geeta Malhotra Ms Geeta Malhotra has been working with OneWorld for the lsat two-and-a-half years and is a key member of the OWSA Management Team since April 2006. As Head - ICT Advocacy, Grassroots Communications & Capacity Building, Geeta leads all programmes related to promoting and using ICTs for localising MDGs at the grassroots level and advocating the related issues at the policy level. The programmes are designed and implemented across South Asia based on multi-stakeholder partnerships. She brings in 23 years of experience in research, advocacy and communications in health and development issues. Geeta has a double PG in Sociology and Population Studies. She is currently pursuing Phd in Women's Empowerment vis-a-vis RCH. Head – Finance, Administration & Legal Affairs Mukesh Garain Mukesh has worked with OneWorld since April 2002 in various capacities at its New Delhi office. He has been part of the OWSA Management Team since April 2006 and advising the team on legal, administrative and financial matters. He brings in an experience of nearly 18 years and has worked in the corporate and the development sectors. Programme Manager Senior Software Developer Shakeel Ahmad Shakeel is a Masters in Computer Applications and is a Project Leader at OWSA. Previously he was a Project Associate with the research and development (R&D) Department of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur on a Project Funded by Microsoft. He has also gained experience in software design & development on a project of BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) – a public sector telecom company. He is working on Open Source Development, which includes php, postgres, e-Print, eZ Publish and has indepth knowledge of Java. Senior Web Developer Kedar Dash, A techie to the core, Kedar has completed his master in computer application and is currently working as a Project Manager at OneWorld South Asia. He has an enriching seven years experience in Web and application development and has been with the Ek-Duniya initiative since its inception. He is deeply involved in the capacity building programmes of OWSA. Before joining OWSA, he had worked with Development Alternatives and NIIT Ltd. His of expertise includes extensive work on Zope, plone and python. Web Editor Rahul Kumar Rahul, who has been a journalist with the mainstream media in India and has worked for national dailies, is currently the Web Editor, OneWorld South Asia. Rahul has been selected for international trainings related to Media, Online Journalism and Reporting by the British Council, the Radio Netherlands Training Centre (RNTC) as well as the Reuters Foundation. He has been with OWSA since April 2002 and reports, writes, edits and selects news for the OWSA portal and other editorial products. He has used his mainstream journalistic background while launching campaigns on special issues and events like the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS), the December 2004 tsunami, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) meetings and the Indian Social Forum (ISF) held in November 2006. He is currently editing the Global Call to Action against Poverty's (GCAP) website apart from the OneWorld South Asia portal and the Digital Opportunity channel. He contributes to OWSA’s training programmes on Web Presentation and Writing for the Web. He is also with OWSA contact person for the media and communication group of the Wada No todo Abhiyan (WNTA) that is a coalition of civil society organisations lobbying with the Indian government on implementing the MDGs. Partnership Manager Geetha Bhardwaj Geetha N Bhardwaj, Knowledge Co-ordinator – Gender Geetha is a management graduate from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, whose career, of over twenty years, has spanned the public sector, non-government (NGO) sector and the corporate sector. She has worked at Jagori - a Women’s training, documentation and communication centre in New Delhi – where she gained understanding on gender issues and on using communication to build awareness. Currently the Knowledge Co-ordinator – Gender at OneWorld South Asia, her mandate is to facilitate the use of ICTs towards women’s empowerment and the creation of a gender just society. It was as a member of the Board of Directors at Vidyatech Solutions Private Ltd., a company aiming for solutions for developing, delivering, and managing learning and knowledge, she realised the importance of knowledge and ICTs in enhancing women’s capacities to create better lives for themselves and their families. As the Asia Editor of the Millennium Campaign for about four months, she interfaced with the Wada Na Todo Abhiyan (WNTA) in India, and with other country focal points in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to report on activities related to the three White Band events of 2005. Application Developer Shalini R An M.Sc. in computer science, Shalini has been working with the Content Management System (CMS) and groupware tool for collaboration between different located entities using Plone, Python. Communication Support Associate Madhusmita Hazarika Madhusmita is a communication graduate from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. She has worked as a Public Relations professional in New Delhi and holds experience in media relations. She also has experience in scripting and voicing radio and TV programmes. Madhusmita has a background in life sciences and has been associated with environmental NGOs since her student days.
