YUVA Meet 2012: Agenda
Theme: Conserving Global Commons: Transforming Knowledge into Action
Date: 30-31 January 2012
Venue: British Council Division, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in partnership with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and British Council has been organizing YUVA Meet - ‘Youth Unite for Voluntary Action’ since 2009. The two day-long event is held a day prior to TERI’s annual international summit, Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) to ensure that the voice of the young can be heard at the major international forum. The meet enables the youth to play a pivotal role in spreading the knowledge on key environment concerns and collectively voice their views, exchange ideas, and form a common network thereby reaching out to many more like minded people.
Despite the vast knowledge and information available about the impact of human activities on environment, little has been done towards conservation of global commons. The YUVA Meet 2012 on the theme ‘Conserving Global Commons: Transforming Knowledge into Action’ will focus on how this knowledge can be converted into action and inspire the youth to work towards a sustainable future.
200 young participants from 14 nations would come together to participate in the YUVA Meet this year. The countries include - India, China, United Kingdom, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea, Netherlands, Canada, Malaysia, South Africa, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Swaziland.
